30-Day Declutter Challenge
Fifteen minutes a day, one small spot at a time. By day 30, every room feels lighter.
30-Day Declutter Challenge
A 30-spot tracker from the junk drawer to the garage, four sorting piles, the rules, and a log of where everything went.
- A 30-spot tracker, fifteen minutes a day
- Four sorting piles and the rules for each
- A log of where everything went
A weekend purge produces bin bags in the hallway and a tired household. Fifteen minutes on one spot produces a finished drawer, and tomorrow another. By day 30 you have been through the places clutter actually lives: the junk drawer, the bathroom cabinet, the cable box, the car.
The challenge is strict about one thing. Finish today's spot only. No wandering into the next room, no buying boxes until the end, and no catching up if you miss a day. Just do the next one.
What is inside
- How it works: a 15-minute timer, one spot, four piles (keep, donate, repair, recycle)
- The rules, including "don't buy storage until day 30"
- The tracker: 30 numbered spots across kitchen, bathroom, wardrobe, desk, car and garage
- Log: item, pile, where it went, and notes on what changed
Who it is for
Anyone who has started decluttering and stalled, who lives with other people and cannot take a whole weekend, or who wants a visible result without a visible mess in between.
How to use it
- Print the tracker (page three) and put it on the fridge. Set a 15-minute timer each day.
- Sort into the four piles. Take the donate pile out of the house every week.
- On day 30, walk through the house. Only now measure any gap that still needs a box.
FAQ
Questions about this printable
What if I miss a day?
Do the next one. The rules say so explicitly. Catching up turns a 15-minute habit back into a purge, which is what the challenge is designed to avoid.
Why no storage until day 30?
Because most clutter needs less stuff, not more boxes, and a container bought on day three is usually the wrong size for what is left on day 30. Measure the gap at the end, look for something you already own, and buy only what fills it.
What do I do with the repair pile?
Set a date for each item. If it is still unrepaired on that date, it goes to the donate or recycle pile. The Keep, Repair, Donate or Recycle decision chart on this site is the longer version of that rule.
